Smart Growth Greater Madison, Inc. (SGGM)

Smart Growth Greater Madison, Inc. represents local real estate developers and associates in the industry on public policy issues impacting real estate development in Dane County. Members of SGGM include a broad spectrum of the development industry including real estate developers, general contractors, architects, engineers, attorneys, brokerage firms and financial institutions. We are a 501c(6) non-profit trade organization. In May 2011, Smart Growth joined Solaris Management, an association management and consulting firm that provides administrative support, fundraising, and HR services, including staffing the Executive Director position.

Initial focus was on City of Madison policies, however, in 2007, Smart Growth expanded it’s purview to include a more regional approach to better reflect its growing membership and their interests beyond the City of Madison. The mission of SGGM is to promote policies that support practical and desirable growth in Dane County through education, outreach and activism.

Smart Growth membership includes Developer and Associate memberships. Developer members are automatically included on the Board of Directors, and are eligible to be members of the five-person Executive Committee that meets monthly. Associate members may attend the quarterly Board meetings, as well as any other events, meetings, or seminars held by Smart Growth. They are also included in the distribution of all materials provided to members and can access Smart Growth’s consulting service on development related issues.
